YoungLives

What is it?

YoungLives is Central Indiana Young Life's ministry to teen moms. It surrounds a young mom with two things many of them have never had: a caring mentor who knows her name, and a community of other moms walking the same road — with childcare, meals, and friendship along the way.

Who leads it?

YoungLives is led by Kiara Gill, a Carmel native and Carmel High graduate with a master's in nonprofit management. Bilingual and fluent in Spanish, Kiara leads alongside a committee chaired by Christy Bakker — who has served Young Life since the 1970s — and a team of volunteer leaders who serve and walk with young moms week after week.

The ministry continues to grow across Central Indiana and into Indianapolis. Each summer, YoungLives takes young moms to camp — for many, the best week of their lives, and the first time they hear they were made on purpose, for a purpose.
